Roswitha (aka Rosie) Dransfeld, an award-winning producer and internationally renowned documentary filmmaker, crafts powerful explorations of the human condition. Her films include Who Cares, Antisocial Limited, and Broke, which won the prestigious Donald Brittain Award for Best Social/Political Documentary. One of the career highlights is her successful collaboration with Niobe Thompson from Handful of Films. Together, they produced Memento Mori (CBC and NFB) and Transplanting Hope (Nova/PBS), two Emmy-nominated documentaries that garnered the Jackson Hole Special Jury Award and Best Feature Documentary at Cinequest. The feature doc Dogsville for Knowledge Network, TVO and Bell Media is now streaming on Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime. The film is touring this year through the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand with The Top Dog Film Festival. Dransfeld directed and produced The Return of the Blackfoot for German broadcasters ARD and ARTE. The documentary will air on June 23, 2024, on ARTE, Erlebnis Erde. Dransfeld's latest work, The Good Virus, is a character-driven film commissioned by Telus Independent. This feature documentary delves into the global efforts of leading scientists combatting one of the most pressing health challenges of our timeāthe urgent issue of multi-drug-resistant infections. The film explores their revolutionary approach of using phages to combat deadly bacteria in the environment, in animals, and in humans.
