Executive Director

Melanie Windle

Melanie Windle (BFA, MFA) is an award-winning producer, mentor, and media entrepreneur. She is the Executive Director of The Sustainable Production Forum (SPF), a global event that accelerates decarbonization in content creation.

Most recently, she served as Director of Industry Programming at Whistler Film Festival. Her favourite pieces of content from her filmography are the Carmilla Series and The Carmilla Movie, garnering over 100 million views on YouTube and an engaged worldwide fandom. Lauren Ash (SUPERSTORE) and Ennis Esmer (CHILDREN RUIN EVERYTHING) both won Best Performance at the Canadian Comedy Award for her indie feature DIRTY SINGLES, written and directed by Alex Pugsley.

Melanie is an alumna of the Banff Spark Accelerator for Women in the Business of Media, the Canadian Film Centre's Cineplex Film Program – Producers' Lab, and the Short Dramatic Film Program.

During her tenure producing with Shaftesbury, Melanie was a lead creative producer on numerous successful branded & digital IPs including; CARMILLA, an award-winning multi-platform series that ran for 108 episodes + a feature length film; THE CARMILLA MOVIE, partially funded with pre-sales from the dedicated online fandom "The Creampuffs”.

Most recently she produced Whistler Film Festival’s Content Summit and spearheaded their virtual 1+1 Market Meetings, growing the event by 60%. Prior to that she produced Canadian Screen Week’s 5-day industry conference and ran the Canadian Academy Director’s Program for Women.

Melanie was selected for the inaugural cohort of the Banff2020 Spark Accelerator for Women in the Business of Media, is an alumna of the Canadian Film Centre’s Cineplex Film Program – Producers’ Lab, and the Short Dramatic Film Program.
